Ok, so I've been gone for awhile. I could use the excuse that there were the Holidays, and, work, and etc.etc., but the truth is that I think that many of us, including me, may have had an overload of current events that left us speechless. That, and the fact that I didn't think anyone was listening, or in this case, reading, anyway.
A lot has happened in the last few months. A lot that we thought was not possible in the United States.
We have pretty much trashed the idea of rule by the people. We have changed the structure of the House and Senate, and behaved in a manner unheard of in the history of the country.
We have alienated friends, and embraced long standing regimes that we once abhorred.
It would take me quite awhile to update my section on "Disturbing Quotes of Our Time", but, I will try to catch up.
A few of the most amazingly, disturbing quotes, have happened within the last month.
These are paraphrased but, you get the gist.
Al Sharpton on the events of the day, explained to America that we shouldn't be so astounded at recent developments, since we knew that Obama was running on a Socialist platform and yet, we elected him. Why then, are we so upset when he initiates these proposals.
Well! I thought that when the conservatives mentioned Socialism in the past, that it was an outrageous and bizarre part of our collective imaginations.
Both Pelosi and the Prez stated vehemently and, with little tolerance for the rest of the country's apparent stupidity, that if we would only listen to them once in awhile, we would know that once the Health Care Reform bill was passed, then we, and they, would actually get to see what is in it.
When did Bills, and, eventually laws of the land become demoted to surprise grab bags?
We have been informed by the elected officials of our land themselves that votes now depend on the so called "sweetheart deals", or on the flip side, whatever dirt can be dug up on the official that might just sway his or her vote. No one seems to be embarrassed by this method of vote gathering.
Then, of course, there is the latest Bidenism. What can I say? Biden chooses to use a certain, "non acceptable in public" word, in a very public place, during a very public press conference, and, the Prez thinks it was the best part of the day.
Give me strength!
